She is unpredictable, frequent moodswings. Sometimes she’s nice, and sometimes she’s not.

Her name is Yan Ying. 90% of the world can’t pronounce it properly, simple as it seems. But no one really cares so they just call her YY. She is not fond of people with the same name as her. She turns 14 on 6th September and she loves her birthday cause it is a sex symbol.

She was from Yew Tee Primary and is still proud of her school. She will never forget the class of 6D’07, or the batch of P6’07. She is currently an idiot in Nanyang Girls High and it is a love-hate relationship. She belongs to 202’09 which she, to be honest, doesn’t feel much for.

She is a Theatre Club girl and is more than proud to be one. She especially loves Emo Batch♥, and looks forward to devoting her next 3 years to TCN with much optimism.

She does ballet with more than just passion but she can’t do a center split. She is trying her best and is currently aiming for a far-fetched distinction for Grade6. She loves hiphop just as much though she’s pretty new at it. Her favourite sport is swimming and she occasionally plays basketball as a form of stress-relief. She likes to be tan and loves her swimming tan line. The piano, is yet another love-hate relationship.

Like most teenagers, her hobbies include MSNing, blogging, and youtubing and facebooking. She loves shopping and doing random stuff like gaying people, jumping over railings, walking in the rain, and having completely irregular sleeping hours.

Unlike most teenagers, she thinks that rap music is trash. She also thinks that she is getting old cause she hates the songs the average listens to these days. She can’t explain her love for oldies, country music, ballads, and sentimentals. Nostalgic songs are the best. Her favourite bands are Michael Learns to Rock, The Beatles and Westlife. She loves too many singers to name them all.

“Forevers” are bullshit as of now.

The night speaks to her the way no one else can. Her favourite thing to do is to curl up with a book on a rainy afternoon in her room, where she feels safest in. Her favourite flower is a black rose, but on the contrary, she likes rainbows and hugs too.

She is always torn between two.

But she is determined when she sets her mind on something, so she wants the world to shut up and believe in her. Just watch.

PSLE Oral (English)

I just came across a youtube video and I was laughing until my stomach pain. Seriously it is SO DAMN FUNNY but I shall not post it up here cause it contains some vulgarities...
The game is really creative, though.
If you don't know those hokkien vulgar, then you will think the video is so educational and useful. You would probably even recommend it to someone, saying "Ohh this helps you to learn tang shi."
HAHAHAHA ITS SO FREAKING FUNNY. I'M LISTENING TO 'WO KE YI' NOW BUT I'M STILL LAUGHING.
*Guffaws*
I can't get over it!

Anyway, NYGH DSA.
After Joy gave me a sample question, asked in BPGHS interview (she knew because valerie went), my confidence level fell to a -100. "Describe your school in CHINESE."
I was..Stunned. O.O I know they are going to post questions like this, but I've never thought of answering them until today.
If it's all in English, I'm fully confident, but not over.
But...In Chinese?! Now PLEASE don't expect me to clear this round because I know I'm not going to.
Tell me to be confident, whatever, I'm really just not effectively bilingual.
And to have the HOD of Eng and HOD of Math interview me?!
1 word. Die.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still such, today and yesterday are one of the best days of my life. Ytd received the prize call, and today my English oral..

Perfect. Just excellent. The best oral I've done.
I'm confident of all top band (9-10 for all 3 components), maybe even 28, 29. Teachers said full marks is possible, and while I hope so, I shouldn't target that high because...No reason.

It went so well, I stepped out of the examination room, unable to hid my wide grin of accomplishment. I was totally on seventh heaven.

Things didn't go too well at first. Not to mention the fact that I had my PMS on YESTERDAY MORNING. And it was RAINING.
First impression was important, but I don't think I made a very good one.
As students are all reminded to leave their bags outside the examination classroom, I followed too, but then the examiners (a female and a male)told me to bring my bag in, and because the rain was simply too loud, I could not hear what they said. They had to repeat. Then, when I went in, the female examiner asked me to self-intro, and DAMN THAT RAIN again, I couldn't hear her.

I said, "huh?" Natural response. SHIT. After that word came out of my mouth, I started harbouring deep regrets. I shudda said "I beg your pardon?" instead of sounding so gong.

Could see that the female examiner wasn't too happy with me already, so I vowed silently to impress her with my oral skills. To think I wasn't even nervous at that point of time!! The man was just sitting down there, and both weren't wearing hints of smile on their faces.
I knew that this battle was going to be tough, but I told myself not to worry, and I don't know where my confidence that they will be totally impressed and satisfied with me came from.

I started reading the passage - Beautifully. I remembered my their=there, my -eds were pronounced alright, my ths were wonderful, my tones were just right, my volume was okay, my dialogue part was really good (not too exaggerating or flat). The only single error I made was adding a 'so' before the 'much more'. Still I think my attempt for a 10 could be achieved, at least a 9. I continued the passage, calm and relaxed, even after the 'so', so there shouldn't be much of a problem. I've always thought that if I screwed up on one word during PSLE cause I've always presumed I'll be extremely nervous when in actual fact its the complete opposite, I would lose stability and screw my entire passage up. And I'll be even more "oh shit" and screw my ENTIRE oral up.

Yay! I earned a "good" from the female examiner! Even more confident, with the will to perfect my oral burning even stronger.

The picture showed a scene in the MRT carriage. At the left side there was a really tired man in army attire standing up and sleeping..Then next to him there was a pregnant lady seated down..Next to the lady there was a fat man giving up his seat to an old Indian lady..Then beside him got another man in checkered shirt looking very uncomfortable..Next to that man have a teenage boy listening to his walkman while flipping through his notes..In front of him a school girl dropped her books and notes..

Of course I didn't say what was stated on the above. I will be likely to get 2-3 marks if I said that. Duhh. And I don't use so many next tos.

The picture, same old starting, etc. Off-peak hour as it is not very crowded...When I got to the fourth sentence or so, the "I feel very appreciative towards National Service men as they put in all their efforts and do their best in protecting Singapore.", the teachers started to smile already, and they kept their smile, which kept grewing wider and wider by second, all the way until the conversation ended. I'm serious! They didn't stop smiling for a second!

I shifted my gaze from one examiner to the other, giving them equal looks lah..It will be really uncomfortable for me to stare at one and look at the other once in a blue moon as I always like to give people I'm talking to equal attention, or it just wouldn't seem right for me.

Talked about the fat man giving up his seat..Also said that "Singaporeans should follow in his footsteps and give up our seats to the aged, the weak, the sick and pregnant ladies. If we do that, tourists would think that Singaporeans are very thoughtful and considerate, and hence they would consider coming to Singapore for a vacation. If that happens, our economy rate would also rise."
In while talking about the fat man, they seemed most impressed by my last two sentences and they kept nodding. (I mean aren't their heads tired or something..But its better if they nod right..)

The funniest thing I said in the oral was "the man in checkered looks very uncomfortable as I assume that it is because of the fat man beside him." The teachers raised their eyebrows, but their smile cracked wider and they looked as if they were going to laugh..Hmm, not many people would say that right..LOL.

I took every little thing into consideration, every piece of note drawn in the picture. Like "a teenage schoolboy is listening to his walkman and going through his notes. I presume that his exam is coming soon and he is busy revising his work."

Also said that people should help the school girl who has just dropped her books and notes onto the floor...Etc. She looks very shocked..Blahblah.

Ended with, In conclusion, MRTs are very convenient for people to travel from one place to another. Then said "Thank you".
For picture, I did manage eye-contact up, down, up, down.

Conversation went wonderful, except for the fact that I didn't map it out perfectly and such, so it was like, I said whatever that came into my head. That was the only flaw. AND, I forgot my rq!! ARGH the point scorer!!
Teachers seemed impressed by my conver, too, and they looked very interested in what I had to say.

Question was "Do you like to take buses and trains?"
I said, "Buses and trains are convenient ways for people to travel. However, I prefer travelling by cars as it is more convenient..." etc, etc. Also went to the point about how cars release exhaust fumes which pollutes the air and damages the environment...

Then also said that "Sometimes I like to travel on buses and trains as well as I can slowly enjoy the beautiful scenery outside. Also, I get to spend time with my friends as this is my last year with them as we are all taking our PSLE this year. Therefore, I treasure every moment I spend with them alot." Etc,etc. I did have 100% eye-contact (I just love looking at the teachers' faces and seeing them with the impressed smile) and my confidence level was to the limit. I forgot how I ended, but I did say "Thank You" and the female teacher did say "Very good."

I couldn't believe myself! I couldn't believe the fact that I was just so fluent and I didn't stammer (except maybe 2-3 times only). Also, I didn't pause to stop and think long long.

=D WEEHEE!

All three of us were grinning from ear to ear, but it was too bad that Yan Ting cried. Well, its not that she did badly or anything. She's a girl who gets nervous very easily.
Yesterday, she didn't cry for Chinese and all of 6D's Team 441 were very proud of her. That's because 6D treats her like the mei-mei of our class..ESP ME! Cuz she's SIM YAN TING, I'm SIM YAN YING, and we are both born in THOMSON MEDICAL HOSPITAL.

How the heck do you explain that coincidence...

This oral was just awesome, just wonderful, just excellent, just brilliant, just perfect. Is there such thing as 'dream oral'?

I walked out of the class, shining like a star.
