Profile
She is unpredictable, frequent moodswings. Sometimes she’s nice, and sometimes she’s not. Her name is Yan Ying. 90% of the world can’t pronounce it properly, simple as it seems. But no one really cares so they just call her YY. She is not fond of people with the same name as her. She turns 14 on 6th September and she loves her birthday cause it is a sex symbol. She was from Yew Tee Primary and is still proud of her school. She will never forget the class of 6D’07, or the batch of P6’07. She is currently an idiot in Nanyang Girls High and it is a love-hate relationship. She belongs to 202’09 which she, to be honest, doesn’t feel much for. She is a Theatre Club girl and is more than proud to be one. She especially loves Emo Batch♥, and looks forward to devoting her next 3 years to TCN with much optimism. She does ballet with more than just passion but she can’t do a center split. She is trying her best and is currently aiming for a far-fetched distinction for Grade6. She loves hiphop just as much though she’s pretty new at it. Her favourite sport is swimming and she occasionally plays basketball as a form of stress-relief. She likes to be tan and loves her swimming tan line. The piano, is yet another love-hate relationship. Like most teenagers, her hobbies include MSNing, blogging, and youtubing and facebooking. She loves shopping and doing random stuff like gaying people, jumping over railings, walking in the rain, and having completely irregular sleeping hours. Unlike most teenagers, she thinks that rap music is trash. She also thinks that she is getting old cause she hates the songs the average listens to these days. She can’t explain her love for oldies, country music, ballads, and sentimentals. Nostalgic songs are the best. Her favourite bands are Michael Learns to Rock, The Beatles and Westlife. She loves too many singers to name them all. “Forevers” are bullshit as of now. The night speaks to her the way no one else can. Her favourite thing to do is to curl up with a book on a rainy afternoon in her room, where she feels safest in. Her favourite flower is a black rose, but on the contrary, she likes rainbows and hugs too. She is always torn between two. But she is determined when she sets her mind on something, so she wants the world to shut up and believe in her. Just watch.Tag

My Chinese Teacher
Just finished reading "In Her Shoes" by Jennifer Weiner. Really good book, I enjoyed it ALOT! =D As much as "Digital Fortress" and "Are you Afraid of the Dark?" and "Undomestic Goddess" and so on. Lurrve reading. =)Haven't read "Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" yet. Heard that it's very well written...Will check it out soon, of course! The main purpose of this entry is to...Yeah, write about my Chinese Teacher. She's really mixes well with us, and ohh, she's a very beautiful, sophiscated, cool and intelligent teacher, nothing bad, don't worry. YEAH, RIGHT. You must be a be a little...sod. SERIOUSLY! Background- She comes from China and blah blah, and one of the first few things that she said was, "MY CHINESE IS VERY VERY VERY ACCURATE AS I COME FROM THIS ______ PART OF CHINA." Wadeva that was, I don't give a frigging damn. "Other parts like _____ and _____ and _____ don't speak very accurate chinese." YadaYada...She also said that she doesn't understand English and by then everyone was clapping and yelling. Maybe that was a little too far... And when she introduce herself, she was saying like, "I HAVE ALREADY TAUGHT CHINESE FOR NINETEEN YEARS..." and then, "LISTEN PROPERLY, NINETEEN YEARS. NINETEEN YEARS." Delibrately stressing on the word NINETEEN, like she's boasting or something, and then giving that face. We totally DO NOT care how long you have taught Chinese. We want to be able to LEARN WHAT WE NEED TO LEARN FROM YOU and get good grades. What's the point if you teach for nineteen years but is a lousy teacher and students don't like you? What I really hated was that every few minutes, she would come to the topic of CHINA. No, I don't have anything against China, but saying that, "Your composition standard here is the PRIMARY 3 standard in China." etc. etc. is very very irritating. I know that you love your country alot, but you don't have to tell the world, do you? Maybe in Chinese, Singapore do lose out to China as Chinese is originated from China. But compare other points, please. I also know that your love for your son is so strong that when your son says that he wants the stars and the moon, you would go to all extends to get it for him. But we seriously don't enjoy listening to you talking about your son every now and then, saying things like, "My son...His Chinese Spelling has 88 words..." And using that famous. "LISTEN PROPERLY, 88 words..." Whatever. Mrs Diana Cheng was telling us about Singapore during art lesson, and why they built the Esplanade, why Uniquely Singapore, when other countries say that Singapore has no culture.....And the government is very smart... It was better. She also made jokes like, "They say Singapore need government to tell them what to do...No littering, or FINE...No chewing gum, or FINE...FINEFINEFINEFINEFINE, that's why Singapore is such a FINE country..." And everybody cracked up at that. Back to the main topic. I also have another thing that I really really really dislike. She teaches SO slowly. In about slightly less than an hour, she only finishes explaining slightly more than half the important words in that chapter. Then she wants us to write copy the words over and over again in our exercise book which is totally UNNECESSARY and a TOTAL WASTE of time because we don't really need remember how to write the word in our exams, do we? We have to recognize it, and know the meaning, and how to form sentences with it. So, there were complains flying around, and she said, "It is very important as ...........in CHINA.........." Okay, maybe if it's normal chinese I can understand, but it's HIGHER CHINESE which is nothing as important as the four main subjects in PSLE!!! 1 mark, 2 marks, 3 marks, and we have to waste so much of our precious time on this. ADDING IN CHINESE SPELLING. I'm like 100% sure that we cannot finish everything on time, with her explaining each important word with useless, uninteresting crap with 3/4 of the things that we DO NOT need to know. If she spends so much time just on HMT, then we have to rush like crazy in Chinese, which is 100x more important that HMT! This year is already a very rushing year, if she doesn't know. Almost everyone was doing their own things during Chinese lesson- it was just so boring and almost impossible to stay awake. No kidding. We also have to repeat each word at least twice, even repeat the process of how it was formed, like, this part plus that part and wadeva. I'm sure that by doing assessments during her period is more helpful to our results than listening to that teacher. About 3/4 of the time, we don't understand her PERFECTLY ACCURATE CHINESE. Maybe I don't feel it, but some of my classmates claimed that when you go near to her and when she's speaking, it's really such a piercing voice that you have to shut your ears. Yes, it's very high-pitched. So after school, Siew Boon, Tricia, Yu Ting, Yoke Kay, Odelia and I went to "complain" to our former chinese teacher (complaining so loudly that like fish market liddat..)...Who is so so so much better. She seemed to be more worried about us as she told us to study ahead at home as she is worried that we cannot finish the syllabus...Then Miss Lin came rushing up and said, "You know their Chinese teacher right ar..." And Miss Lee nodded. So maybe they knew. I'm definitely studying chinese ahead at home. Or else die. |
